Tanning is done at my home in The Lakes, Tauranga (2 mins from Tauranga Crossing Shopping Centre).
Tans are $30 (cash only) or bring a friend and pay $25 each - keep an eye on Facebook for tan specials.
The solution I use is Black Magic Tan which is Australian based, natural, paraben free, cruelty free and vegan. This is the most natural looking tan I've ever used. You control the colour so if wanting a light tan leave on for 3 - 4 hours, and a more deeper tan leave on for 4 - 6 hours.
Haven’t had a spray tan before? Here’s a few tips on how to get prepared so you can get the most out of your tan:
If you are having a tan done for your wedding or special event, it pays to have a trial beforehand to ensure you are happy with the colour (at least 4 weeks before).
I always recommend getting your tan two days prior to your event, so tan on Thursday if your event is on the Saturday. Tans take 24 - 48 hours to fully develop.
Depending on your skin a tan can last between 3 – 7 days (I have had clients look after their tan really well and get two weeks out of it), but that all depends on your skin’s hydration and PH level (medication, that time of the month and even some foods can affect the outcome of a tan).
Do not expect to get a good tan result if you have sunburn or are peeling.
If you are having a manicure, pedicure or massage, ensure this is done 24 hours before tanning as afterwards the oils used will rub your tan off.
Before Your Tan: Exfoliate the day before your tan, I’m talking all over, feet, knees and elbows especially. Tan will stick to dead skin cells which is not a good look.
If you need to shave, ensure this is done the day BEFORE your tan. Do not shave or wax on the day.
Make sure you have no deodorant, makeup, perfume or moisturiser on as this may affect the outcome of the tan.
At Your Tan: You can wear dark coloured underwear, swimwear or nothing at all, it’s completely up to you. I have disposable G Strings if needed.
I will start off spraying your back and go from there, advising you when to move and which positions to stand in.
You will be quite brown after your tan, but don’t panic this is just the initial bronzer which activates your tan. This will wash off in the shower and then allow the tan to develop fully.
Bring loose dark clothing to put on after your tan, no singlets, no bra and shoes are recommended and not tight active wear as it will rub the tan off and leave marks.
After Your Tan: As mentioned above you will be quite dark from the bronzer, so ensure you are able to go straight home after as you likely won’t want to be seen in public ha ha. If you want a light to medium tan leave on for 3 – 4 hours, if you want a more deeper tan leave on for the full 6 hours. I don’t recommend sleeping in the tan overnight (although some do).
Avoid water (washing hands), swimming and exercising after your tan as this will cause the tan to not develop properly and go patchy. The earlier you shower, the less tanned you will be.
When you are ready to shower, use luke warm water and NO SOAP. Soap will wash the tan away. Gently rub your body to remove the bronzer until water runs clear. Initially when you are out of the shower you will be lighter, again don’t panic as the tans takes 24 – 48 hours to fully develop.
Pat yourself dry (no rubbing). Some say moisturising is ok and some don’t, I’ll leave that up to you but if you do ensure there is no oil as a main ingredient in your moisturiser as this will lessen the length of your tan.
Twice daily moisturising will extend the life of your tan as well as patting dry after each shower. Your hands, feet and face will be the first to fade. Exercise and swimming will cause your tan to fade patchy and not last as long. Also don’t shave or exfoliate after your tan unless you want to remove it.
All tans are non-refundable. If your tan is not what you were expecting after the 24 hour mark let me know so I can assess.
