This is going to sound so clichéd - BUT you really do need to book your hair & makeup artist as soon as possible.
When you think about it, you book your venue and photographer not long after you've gotten engaged as they all are date dependant. Same with your hair & makeup - once the date is gone, it's gone. So why not book your hair & makeup artist at the same time.
I myself, don't take on more than one wedding a day (unless it's two small ones I'm able to fit in), as I want to be able to give my best to my clients and my full attention - after all your paying top dollar and you want to be satisfied. The amount of brides I've had to turn away this season that have left booking their hair & makeup until the last few weeks before their wedding is just crazy.
When I got married, I booked my makeup artist 18 months in advance! I'm super organised and we were paying for it all ourselves so I wanted to lock in all the deposits so we knew how much we had to save to pay for everything. Not to mention I had no stress as had booked everything within a month of being engaged (yes I think I'm a bit OCD).
Wedding season in New Zealand, generally starts in September and goes through till March. Although now that I'm based in the sunny Bay of Plenty, I'm finding there are weddings all year round which is great. December, January, February and March are by far the busiest months (that I've experienced) and these dates get booked up super fast - especially if you are having your wedding on a long weekend.
So my recommendation is to book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment with your chosen artist. I've already got bookings for 2017 and dates are filling up fast.
